Sheffield United draw against Norwich City after a saved penalty kept the score at 2-2.

30,035 fans were in attendance at Bramall Lane to watch the game between Sheffield United and Norwich City. Two teams which were close in the Championship table, 5th and 7th place respectively.

Norwich City was in the game from the start, when Teemu Pukki caught an error from goalkeeper Adam Davies and scored an empty goal in the third minute. 

In the 16th minute, Max Aarons created a chance for Norwich City as he kicked from the backfield and the ball was caught by Pukki and scored another goal for the team under the double team of the Sheffield players, completing a brace and giving the team the lead on the stroke of half-time – his seventh goal for the season.

United raised their game in the second half, with goals from Ben Osborn and Oli McBurnie in the 62nd and 71st minute to draw against City.

In the 85th minute, Onel Hernández was tripped in the penalty area and awarded the penalty, which was taken by Pukki. Davies made up for his previous error with a penalty save and ending the game with a tie.

Both teams had a bad track record in recent games, they lost three out of their four previous matches.

Paul Heckingbottom, manager of Sheffield United said: “We expected nothing different. I expected us to win the game.

“There wasn’t too much difference between the first and the second half. We attacked the same way afterward, just with more aggression. We dealt with the long ball much better in the second half.”

Dean Smith, head coach of Norwich City said: “Performance-wise for 65 minutes, really good. We stuck to our game plan. We wanted to draw them onto us a little bit and use the spaces that they left open.

“Teemu’s done brilliantly to get a couple of goals and in all honesty, we should have got a couple more from the counter-attacks that we had.

“Disappointed that we couldn’t see out the game but pleased that we’ve stopped the rot of results.”
