A Sheffield man has been jailed for two years, after police found more than 50,000 indecent images of children on his computer, a court heard.
David Lewis, 60, was found with 50,400 pictures of children on his private PC, some of which were deemed to be in the most serious category.
Sheffield Crown Court heard, during a raid of Lewis’ home, in July, police found evidence of him recording and downloading indecent pictures and videos of children.
Lewis also admitted to charges of sexually assaulting a minor and voyeurism.
Ian West, defending, said Lewis had “lived a life of being isolated and introverted”.
Mr West told the court: “The offences he committed gave him some degree of comfort and made him feel better at the time.
“However, he deeply regrets now the things he has done and made the best use of his time since July and has begun to go to therapy and work on his problems with a specialist.”
Recorder Taryn Turner, said: “Many people think they are doing nothing wrong when downloading and viewing these pictures. The victims of these cases however carry this with them for the rest of their lives, they have scars which will never really completely heal.
“Every person who was affected by your actions is a victim of your perverted sexual fantasies.”
Lewis was sentenced to two years of imprisonment.
