Blow the Whistle campaign will be at Hillsborough Stadium this Saturday to fundraise for YWCA Yorkshire.

The South Yorkshire Echo team will be out in force wearing purple and bucket collecting funds for our Peile House fundraiser.

The fundraiser aims to raise £8,000 to build a new wellness centre for residents of the hostel in Sheffield.

Having launched two weeks ago, the fundraiser by South Yorkshire Echo has already surpassed £200.

Campaign Lead, Stanley Willey, said: “All the team here at the Echo are working so hard on this campaign. We’re all really passionate about getting this wellness centre built for the women at Peile House. Anything people can spare to donate will make a huge difference to their lives.”

Peile House offers refuge for women aged 16-24 facing homelessness. They can stay for up to 12 months and are given guidance through a range of therapeutic and practical programmes.

The proposed wellbeing centre will consist of a space for the residents to do yoga or let their frustrations out in a rage room.

Claire Harding, Project Manager at Peile House thinks the campaign is “really important” and the addition of a wellbeing centre would be “amazing.”

Sheffield Wednesday will be playing Shrewsbury Town, with a kick off of 3pm. The team will be around Hillsborough Stadium from 1pm.

You can donate to the fundraiser here, if you’re going to be at the game come along and speak to the Blow the Whistle team.
